At Unity College we believe that all children can benefit from the exercise, energy release and pure enjoyment of playing sport. Not only does participating in sport improve their motor skills and overall fitness, but it can help instil a sense of self-confidence and improve skills in relationship building and working as part of a team. Our learners are divided into three houses – Red Bishops, Blue Cranes and Yellow Weavers – and they are encouraged to cheer for their team mates at the annual Swimming Gala and Sports Day. Our school boasts an athletics track, soccer pitch and swimming pool.
The following sports are offered:
- Swimming
- Soccer
- Athletics
- Volleyball
- Bocce
- Table Tennis
Unity College is affiliated to Special Olympics South Africa (SOSA) Gauteng and as such we participate in the events organised under their auspices. Learners get to participate with other athletes with same functional abilities. One of our past pupils represented South Africa at the Special Olympics World Games 2019 in Abu Dhabi.
