Cultural
Unity College’s cultural offering is closely linked to the needs of our pupils. Self-expression through song, dance, playing instruments, and poetry acknowledges our pupils’ talents.
We proudly participate in the Perservaria Eisteddfod annually. This is an event designed specifically for children and young adults with special educational needs. Our entries, submitted by video, ensure that no anxiety is caused by performing in front of an unfamiliar audience. This inclusivity is a crucial aspect of our cultural programme.
Our annual concert, a true celebration of our pupils’ talents, is undoubtedly the highlight of the school year. Pupils learn songs and dance routines, dress up in colourful costumes, and showcase their skills to family and friends. The joy and pride experienced by pupils and family alike during this event are truly uplifting. The performing arts play a hugely significant role in helping children develop their creative skills, improve their self-confidence, and gives them opportunities for self-expression.
Visual arts, performing arts, and singing are part of our daily lessons as a teaching approach. In addition, the school offers group music therapy, which further enhances the opportunity for students to respond to music. The joy on our pupils’ faces when indulging in cultural activities is heartwarming.
