Hero certificate for Sloane Meat Market
Boerewors Specialist Michael Kuhbeka, and managers Gloria van den Berg and Richard Letcher from Sloane Meat Market with Unity College learners and Mr Ackerman-du Preez.
On 10 May, some of our learners and Mr Ackerman-Du Preez visited Sloane Meat Market in Bryanston, to hand over a Unity Hero Certificate for their countless meat donations and for an educational tour through their kitchen. The staff showed our learners how boerewors is made and how to debone a leg of lamb, as well as a chicken.

Donation of soccer balls
Special Olympics Gauteng donated soccer balls to all the SOSA affiliated schools and centers in the province that participate in soccer. Unity College was the recipient of 10 soccer balls and we would like to thank Special Olympics for their kind donation.

Warm hearts help us just in time for winter!
Unity College would like to thank Tina Kennedy (Kay Smith’s neighbour) for her kind donation of two large rugs for our After Care Department – it will make a big difference in keeping the room warm during the cold winter months. And we also want to thank Jackie Lee, a member of the “I Love Fourways” community, for donating a roll of fleece. Teacher Sandy will use it to make floor cushions for the Junior Phase children to use during reading- and ring-time. Last but not least, we had another carpet donation, this time from Carosin Buitendag who generously donated three long rugs and one square rug; two of which have been placed in the Staff Centre, and two in the Admin Block.
Hooray to the Fourways community! These donations could not come at a better time as the winter days get chillier and chillier. The generosity of kind souls such as these makes a big difference to us as a non-profit company.
