Unity College’s annual sports day was held on 11 May. As usual, all the houses prepared well for this event and every single house displayed healthy school spirit.
The day’s program was filled with a variety of fun activities as well as competitive events, ranging from field events to track events.
It was a well-attended event with a lot of parents and even ex-students who came out to support their “old” school. Support didn’t end there, as we also received donations of medals which saw each learner receiving one, plus many more remaining for future sport events. Thanks must be given to Taryn Collister, who, with the help of the sporting community, donated these to the school!
Blue Cranes took the overall win for the day with 78 points followed by Yellow Weavers on 56 and Red Bishops third with 43 points. The Yellow Weavers got the Spirit Trophy. The Intermediate Victrix Ludorum was Stephanie Pringle, while the Victor Ludorum was shared between Chinyama Nyirenda and Rendani Singo. The Senior Victrix Ludorum was Hayley de Villiers and the Victor Ludorum was Ty Ogden.
Nicola du Plooy from Rare Diseases South Africa and Kim Kinsella from Unique had an information table to create awareness of these amazing foundations. Thank you to everyone who supported their Rare Bear Project.
And finally, our appreciation to the PTA for keeping everyone well-fed and to Roy and Carol Lewis from Calroy’s Coffee for always supporting Unity College!
