As part of a school project, senior phase learners at Unity College hold a Market Day annually. This year’s market day was held on Saturday, 31 August, to coincide with the celebrations for the school’s 29th birthday.
The aim of the market day is to teach learners how to run a business activity. Learners start by brainstorming business ideas, come up with a product, market their product and then, on the day, get involved in the selling process. Learners are supported by their family, educators and the school at large .
This year, learners came up with a variety of business ideas from healthy drinks, home-baked cookies, hand-made toys, hats, books, sweets and many more. Apart from learning essential life skills like effective communication, teamwork and money skills, learners also went home with some financial incentive. The quality of the stalls was excellent and the selling skills were of a high standard.
Well done Unity College family for your support and well done senior phase learners! Thanks to everyone who came out to support on the day, from the Unity Family to the public who came to take a peek, as well as some past learners and graduates. It was a successful, fun and lighthearted event thanks to you all!
