The Intermediate phase learners went to Camp Konka from 9 – 11 October 2019.
Camping is an integral part of the Life Orientation programme at Unity College. It gives us a clear idea of our learners’ social skills and independence away from their homes and parents. Most of the activities done there, though for fun, are mainly life skills orientated.
The activities the learners were exposed to were:
- Zip lining;
- Team work;
- Rock climbing;
- Obstacle course;
- Seeing and learning about animals;
- Buying from the tuck shop; and
- Mixing with people they meet for the first time.
Our children did all these activities with enthusiasm and perseverance. The zip line and rock climbing were the highlights of this camp as our children demonstrated bravery and unity as they urged each other to overcome their fears.
On the last day they were all awarded with a medal and a certificate for bravery and good behaviour.
