Dear Parents, Staff & Learners,
The final term started at a very fast pace. Besides all the classroom activities taking place, we also started finalizing arrangements for our Christmas Market on 26th October. Unity is also proud to host a Leadership workshop presented by Kerry Sandison, a leadership guru from Cape Town, on 23rd October.
This term the main sports activity is swimming. I am very happy to announce that we have acquired the services of Aqua Marine Aquatics Academy to provide expert swimming coaching to all our learners.
With the introduction of the CAPS curriculum in all the phases for 2019, work on the pre-fab classrooms will also start this term to change these rooms into vocational training rooms. The area immediately in front of the staff room has also been paved.
I also want to commend Mr Ackermann and Mrs Wylie who both delivered presentations on special needs education at the recently held EduTech Africa 2018 conference in Sandton. Both speakers conducted themselves with distinction and consequently brought great kudos to Unity College.
On the staffing front we welcome Zintle back after her maternity leave. We also welcome Bea Duvenage, our new Speech Therapist. Bea joins us in a part time capacity and we are very excited to welcome her to our Unity College family.
May I wish you all a blessed final term.
