Snakes and ladders. To the “untrained eye” it’s just snakes and ladders, but digging deeper it’s about this;
(The Juniors submitted this for the #ReadToLead initiative this January; an initiative to promote reading in class).
Here the Junior V class is practicing reading skills by playing sight word snakes and ladders. This game also allows the kids to take turns and to practice sequencing, counting and fine motor skills but there’s MORE… The class can be seen practicing reading skills further by building three and four letter words. What fun!
More so, the Juniors are actually practicing High Frequency Sight Words; your non phonetic words. Doing this exposes the little ones to words you need them to know and recognise.
