I have been asked to provide I brief synopsis of my teaching career, family and general facts about me.
I am married to Lynette, now for 40 years. We were blessed with two children, Michelle and Jacque. Michelle has two gorgeous boys, Blake and Logan. These two keep Lyn and I very busy but we don’t mind as they are such a blessing to both of us.
I started my teaching career at Northcliff High School in 1975. There I met Lyn while she was doing her teaching practical.
Seven years later I moved to Greenside High school as the HOD Guidance and returned to Northcliff six years after that as the new deputy principal.
It was in 1993 that Bryanston High school approached me and I moved there as the Senior Deputy Principal. Four years later I took over the reigns as the Principal. It was soon after that that Crawford College Sandton offered me the Head’s post. Ten years later Maragon Private School made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. It was form there that I “retired” in March 2017.
My passion and love for children has always been the motivating factor for me remaining in education for more than 40 years in spite of receiving very lucrative offers from outside of education.
During my tenure as a teacher, I was always very involved in coaching all kinds of sport. Rugby was always my first love and consequently I coached first team rugby for 35 years. During this time I was also very involved in provincial schools’ rugby by being a selector for Craven Week and also serving as the Chairman of the Transvaal School’s joint committee for one season.
I believe that it was God’s plan and will for me that my teaching career must reach its pinnacle here at Unity College.
